He is the youngest brother of well-known actor Chiranjeevi and actor-producer Nagendra Babu. The name ‘Pawan’ was given to him by the Karate Association in 1997 after he showed his martial arts skills at a public event.
Film Career
Pawan Kalyan started his acting career in the Telugu film “Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi” in 1996. He became widely recognized for his role in “Tholi Prema” (1998), which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. Over the years, he appeared in several hit movies like “Gabbar Singh” (2012), “Gopala Gopala” (2015), and “Vakeel Saab” (2021).
Political Career
Pawan Kalyan began his political career in 2008 as the leader of Yuvarajyam, the youth wing of the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP), which was founded by his elder brother Chiranjeevi. In 2014, he started his own political party, the Jana Sena Party (JSP). The JSP contested its first elections in 2019, winning one MLA seat with about 6% of the vote.
In the 2024 elections, Pawan Kalyan played a key role in forming an alliance between JSP, TDP, and BJP, leading to a huge win for the alliance. The JSP won all 21 MLA seats and 2 MP seats it contested. Pawan Kalyan was elected from the Pitapuram constituency with a margin of over 70,000 votes.
Deputy Chief Minister
