Dino Melaye biography

Dino Melaye was born on January 7, 1974, in Kano State, Nigeria. He is originally from Ayetoro Gbede in Kogi State. For high school, he went to Abdulaziz Attah Memorial College in Okene. After that, he graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 2000 with a degree in geography.

Dino Melaye started his political career when he was elected to the House of Representatives. He represented the Kabba/Ijumu federal constituency. Later, he became a senator for Kogi West in the 8th Nigerian National Assembly.

While serving as a senator, he was the chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Abuja and also briefly led the Senate Committee on Aviation. He was known for being active in making laws, sponsoring around 20 bills, and raising over 30 motions.

In 2015, Melaye switched to the All Progressives Congress (APC) but went back to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) before the 2019 elections after disagreements with the Kogi State governor. He was also the spokesperson for PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
