Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, known as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. He was part of a Tamil Muslim family and had four brothers and one sister. Even though his family wasn’t rich, Kalam went to Schwartz Higher Secondary School in Ramanathapuram for his early education.
